Maldon
Maldon is roughly eight miles from South Woodham Ferrers, over the Causeway or round through Latchingdon depending on the traffic. It is one of the towns Reef covers most regularly, along with Heybridge, Heybridge Basin and the villages out towards Tollesbury.
Every appointment happens in your own home. No clinic, no parking on Butt Lane, no waiting room.
The hill
Most towns we cover are flat enough that walking distance is the only question. Maldon is not. The drop from the High Street down to the Hythe is steep enough that people who are perfectly steady on the level start avoiding it, and once you start avoiding a hill you tend to stop going that way at all.
That matters more than it sounds. Someone who can walk two hundred yards on the flat but cannot manage a slope has lost access to half their own town. Working on gradient tolerance, controlled descent and the confidence to go downhill is a specific thing, and it is worth doing properly rather than writing it off.
The older housing stock adds to it. A cottage off the High Street or down towards the quay often has a staircase that is steep, narrow and turns sharply, sometimes with a handrail only on one side. Assessing that in a clinic tells you nothing useful. Assessing it on the actual stairs tells you everything.
After hospital
Maldon people who have had a fall or an operation are usually treated at Broomfield in Chelmsford and then discharged home. What follows varies. Sometimes a community package is in place quickly, sometimes it is not, and the weeks in between are exactly when strength and confidence drain away fastest.
Reeflex works alongside NHS services rather than instead of them. You do not need a referral, a discharge letter or anything else to ring and ask.
What happens
Before anyone books anything, Reef will talk it through with you or a family member. If physiotherapy is not the right answer, he will say so.
How you move now, what has become difficult, and what you want to be able to do again. Measured properly, so progress can be measured too.
Exercises sized to where you are today, not to a textbook. Family kept informed, with your permission.
Questions
Usually the same week. Maldon is close enough that travel is rarely the constraint.
No. Contact Reeflex directly. We are happy to keep your GP informed with your permission.
It is the opposite of a problem, it is the point. Plenty of Maldon houses have steep or turning staircases and that is precisely what needs assessing and working on.
Yes. Heybridge, Wickham Bishops, the Tothams, Goldhanger, Purleigh, Mundon, Cold Norton and Latchingdon are all regular. Further out towards Tollesbury and Bradwell is fine too, just worth checking the diary.
£120 for the first assessment and £100 for follow-ups. Nothing to commit to up front and the first phone call is free.
Yes. Care home work runs a little differently, so there is a separate page for that.
