Billericay
Billericay is about nine miles from South Woodham Ferrers, across through Wickford or round by Rettendon. Reef covers the town and the surrounding villages regularly, including Little Burstead, Ramsden Bellhouse and out towards Stock.
Everything happens at home, so there is no clinic to get to and nothing to park.
Bigger houses
Much of Billericay is detached and semi-detached family housing, often bought decades ago and never left. That has an odd effect as people get older. In a big house it is entirely possible to reorganise your life around a difficulty without ever naming it: the spare room downstairs becomes the bedroom, the upstairs bathroom stops being used, the far end of the garden quietly goes out of bounds.
By the time family notices, the adaptation has usually been in place a long time and a fair amount of strength has gone with it. None of that is anyone’s fault. It is just what happens when a house is big enough to let you avoid the hard bits.
The useful thing about assessing at home is that this shows up immediately. Which rooms are still in use tells you more in five minutes than a questionnaire does in half an hour.
After hospital
Billericay sits in Basildon Hospital’s patch, so that is where most people end up after a fall, a fracture or a planned joint replacement. Coming home is the point at which the formal support tends to thin out, and it is also the point at which the recovery is most winnable.

What happens
Before anyone books anything, Reef will talk it through with you or a family member. If physiotherapy is not the right answer, he will say so.
